I want to energize you to make your own fantastic
chainmaille jewelry from simple materials and
basic tools. This is creative and fun. I want
to be there for you as a valued resource to map
out the way step by step. I encourage experimenting
with the great jewelry designs, thoroughly illustrated
and explained in this Chainmaille Jewelry Pattern
e-book, so you can have a lasting thrill from
what you create.
I come from a 155 year family tradition of exquisite
jewelry, art, and engineering. Great-Great Grandfather
was a wood-craftsman/inventor, Great-grandfather
was an internationally well known painter who
studied engineering at MIT during it's first days,
great grandmother an exquisite portrait painter,
one grandfather a goldsmith, the other a well
respected writer, grandmother was an extremely
gifted painter and crafter who studied with great-grandfather,
and mom a silversmith.
I grew up to the sounds of my mom raising a silver chalice, one hammer strike at a time. As a boy, I aprenticed with my mom in her jewelry shop. I learned the pleasure and dicipline of working with my hands. Mom taught me the time tested techniques she learned at the Boston Museum School of Fine Art and in Germany. Dad taught me the engineering techniques to solve problems and create tools to simplify the complex or tedius.
Making your own art objects in my family is just the way it is done. The old saying goes, “Once your mind expands to a large idea, it can not go back to a smaller one.” That large idea is: handmade is simply better.
My personal experience is with jewelry design. The difference between mediocre and excellence in chainmaille jewelry is access to great techniques and design options. You get those options with culturejewelry.com. Chainmaille jewelry is an artistic medium that is accessible to everyone.
Because of my own art/mechanical engineering background you will find me creating things like the bonus assembly jig, which you get free plans for with your purchase of the e-book. I am adept at creating tools that make your experience assembling chainmaille jewelry a pleasant one. I do this because I want to give you the same advantage I have making this exciting craft. This skill is part of my culture and heritage, and one I enjoy sharing with you.
Culturejewelry.com is dedicated to great culture.
The jewelry items you wear show culture, taste,
or art. When you wear a fine piece of chainmaille
jewelry, it might harken back to an age long gone.
It also might look lacey and detailed, or intricate
in a contemporary way. However you see it, I look
forward to serving you in the exciting adventure
of your hand-made chainmaille jewelry.
